Learn ukulele in a live online class that combines clear instruction, real-time feedback, and the motivation of learning alongside others. Designed for adults and mature teens, each class helps you build practical musical skills and confidence from the comfort of home.
Although you hear only the instructor and your own instrument while playing, there is still a strong sense of learning as a group. Classes develop into a community, with questions, stories behind the songs, and the shared experience of working through chord shapes and strumming patterns that become more manageable each week.

Meet Your Instructor
All classes are taught by Linnea Good, an award-winning musician and educator with over 30 years of experience teaching students in Canada and internationally. After a long career as a touring singer-songwriter, Linnea now focuses on teaching ukulele both locally and online from her home in Summerland, BC.
Linnea specializes in working with beginner and intermediate adult learners, guiding students through strumming and rhythm, chord work, ear training, note reading (treble clef and TAB), and introductory fingerstyle. Her teaching approach is clear, patient, and encouraging, with an emphasis on building real musical understanding — not just memorizing shapes.
She is a certified instructor in James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom curriculum and has played a leading role in music education in the Okanagan, including founding the Summerland Music Camp and regional “Choose Music” events. Each year, she also teaches internationally, helping expand access to music education for underserved communities.

Wednesdays, 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Starting September 16, 2026
13 sessions | $350A true beginner class for adults who are completely new to the ukulele. No previous musical experience is required. Bring your questions and be ready to start making music from the first lesson.
Most of each class is spent strumming, playing songs, and developing practical skills. Linnea uses memorable teaching techniques, clear visuals, and straightforward explanations to make chords, rhythms, and musical concepts easier to understand.
You will learn to:
Tune and comfortably hold your ukulele
Play the essential chords C, Am, F, G7, and Csus4
Move smoothly from one chord to another
Use basic strumming rhythms and musical patterns
Play songs from folk, pop, the sixties, oldies, and other genres
Develop early play-by-ear skills
Explore musical keys and basic melodies
You will also receive a booklet of Level 1 songs, giving you plenty of music to practise between lessons and after the course ends.

Starting September 16, 2026
13 sessions | $350Level 2 is for adults who know five or more chords, have some experience with basic strumming rhythms, and are ready to build on their existing skills.
The course moves beyond the fundamentals into new keys, a broader chord repertoire, fingerstyle accompaniment, and introductory music reading. New concepts are explored through practical work with songs, helping students connect technique and theory to the music they play.
You will learn to:
Expand your chord repertoire and play in new keys
Understand what makes up a musical key
Develop a wider range of strumming and picking patterns
Begin fingerstyle picking and accompaniment
Play the C, F, and G scales
Identify notes on the fretboard and treble staff and begin reading tablature (TAB)
Strengthen your play-by-ear skills and practise singing while playing
By the end of the program, you will be able to play complete songs with stronger rhythm, introductory fingerstyle and reading skills, and growing musical independence.

Level 3 is for adults with experience playing multiple chords and strumming patterns, along with a foundation in fingerstyle picking, melody playing, and staff or TAB reading. Students may enter with different musical strengths, whether they are more comfortable playing by ear, reading notation, or following tablature.
The course builds on the abilities of the group through more advanced rhythms, chord shapes, melody playing, and music reading. Students will also work with James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom Book One.
You will learn to:
Play chord shapes further up the neck
Play multiple strumming styles and syncopated rhythms
Develop fingerstyle picking using varied rhythms
Play individual notes, melodies and chord-melody arrangements
Sing and play the ukulele at the same time
Read melodies from staff notation and ukulele tablature (TAB)
Strengthen your play-by-ear skills and musical understanding
By the end of the program, you will be able to learn and perform more complex songs with greater control over rhythm, melody, and accompaniment.

A supplementary class for adults who want to learn to read ukulele sheet music. The class is suitable for all experience levels, including complete beginners.
You will learn to:
Read treble staff notation
Read ukulele tablature (TAB)
Apply your reading skills through accompanying instructional videos
By the end of the program, you will be able to read treble staff notation and ukulele tablature with confidence.

6 sessions | $150
A fun, supplementary summer class for adults who want to keep playing ukulele in a relaxed group setting. The class is open to late beginner and intermediate players.
You will:
Practise steady strumming in a low-pressure setting
Play and enjoy songs with other ukulele learners
Keep your ukulele skills active throughout the summer
By the end of the program, you will have kept your skills fresh while enjoying six weeks of music and connection with your ukulele.

Classes are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 12 students, so everyone can receive personalized guidance from the instructor.

This is a structured group course, and tuition covers the full series. We’re not able to offer make-up lessons, partial refunds, or credits for missed classes.
