Shirley Isaac

Piano

Shirley Isaac began teaching piano as a teenager and obtained the ARCT diploma in Piano Pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music with First Class Honours at age 20. With over 30 years of piano teaching experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her students. Following a Bachelor of Arts degree at Trinity Western University, she enrolled in the Professional Development Program at Simon Fraser University. After receiving teacher certification from the B.C. Ministry of Education, Shirley taught in the Chilliwack and Toronto school districts for several years, primarily in music and English classrooms.

Shirley teaches piano to students of all ages, ranging from pre-school to adult. Her focus is on the student as an individual, and she uses various methods and teaching resources all geared toward helping students reach their personal goals in a way that is encouraging and enjoyable. Lessons incorporate ear training, sight reading and technical exercises in addition to piano repertoire. Improvisation and chord chart reading (keyboard harmony) are also explored.

Rod Swanson

Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Mandolin, Banjo

Rod Swanson is a seasoned music educator and performer with over 40 years of experience teaching across the Fraser Valley, Manitoba, and Ottawa. Rod studied classical guitar and has attended various master classes with well-known global artists. He has extensive performance experience in recitals, ensembles, church services, weddings, television appearances, hotels, and fine dining restaurants across Canada, and is always available to perform.

Rod also plays electric guitar and bass guitar, and has many years of experience playing in pop bands too. Over the years, with all the various situations in playing, Rod has acquired a vast repertoire to accommodate any new situation, which means students are very happy with songs personally tailored to their needs and interests—whether Rock or Classical guitar, or ethnic music. Rod also teaches ukulele, mandolin, and banjo.

In addition to this vast experience, Rod has a unique ability called "perfect pitch," which allows him to listen to any new song and arrange the music for performance situations with other musicians and students' needs. Each student has special needs and unique ambitions—whether from age 5 to 85! Some students relate well with standard music notation, some relate well with Rock guitar "tab," and others relate better to a personalized way they are comfortable with. Also, some students desire to pursue Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and enter local music festivals. His students have achieved high standards in RCM results, and a number of students have performed in the Provincial Music Festival.

Emily Eggert-Botkin

Owner

Emily began teaching piano in 2008 to students of all ages in lesson centres, private studios, and in student's own homes. In 2013, she completed her ARCT in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Mrs. Lori Elder in Prince George, BC.

As a member of the British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association (BCRMTA) and a volunteer with the Chilliwack Music and Dance Festival, Emily enjoys staying active in the local music community.

After developing an interest in business and marketing, Emily decided to bring her two passions together and open her own music school to serve the Chilliwack community. She founded Mobile Melodies with the goal of making music lessons more convenient and accessible for everyone, without sacrificing quality.

When she's not busy making music, Emily enjoys paddleboarding, swimming, skiing, traveling and being in nature.
